As I sit here and type this, I have the cast's version of "Don't Stop Believing" playing. Oh yes, it's THAT SERIOUS. I haven't been this excited to see the progression of a tv show in a long time. Glee is silly, sarcastic, clever, fun and just plain old amazing.
It was so funny because, last night, Maddie had tweeted my exact thoughts:
"why can't it be wednesday already? and why isn't glee on every freaking day of the week?!"
Speaking of twitter, last wednesday, I was so happy and shocked to see that many of the people I follow were tweeting about glee. Hopefully, this show will continue to gain popularity and will not get cancelled. because that will not be a good thing.
I've been reading that a lot of people think of it as a raunchier/darker version of High School Musical. which I don't see at all. I think of Glee more than just a show about high school students who sing and dance. I say this because I've seen my fair share of HSM thanks to my cousins.
(seriously, I have a 5-year-old cousin who insists on watching it every time I babysit her. SERIOUSLY).
And by fair share, I mean I've seen the first High School Musical more times than you've seen or heard about Kanye West stealing Taylor Swift's moment of glory at the VMAs by now.
(it's so bad that whenever anyone says, "we're all in this together" I immediately break out into song. mentally of course).
What sets Glee apart is that the producers or musical directors are so creative in how they fuse current songs into their storylines. They're not relying on creating some sappy, corny song as the storyline but using well-known songs for the enhancement of the storyline and the actors/performers really make the songs their own. When they performed "Gold Digger" on last week's episode, the fun that they all had performing it was very visible and quite contagious.
Also the actors happen to be incredibly talented as well. I had heard of Lea Michele who plays Rachel Berry (who is the musical theatre version of Tracy Flick) when she played Wendla in Spring Awakening, a broadway musical about teenagers who discover the many realms of sex and sexuality in the 1800s. So I knew that I would hear some quality singing on her end but everyone else was unknown to me and I'm blown away by all of them.
As a musical lover and appreciator, this show makes me happy on so many different levels (and isn't that what we all want out of a tv show? just to be entertained) and I'm so glad that I now have something else to look forward to (besides Top Chef) on wednesday nights.

I haven't watched this yet, but with the rave reviews everyone - mostly bloggers - seem to be giving it, I might have to check it out this week.
I haven't watched it yet. I will definitely start recording this week though! It sounds pretty amazing!
i actually saw lea michele in spring awakening and was completely BLOWN AWAY. she's incredible and the main reason why i decided to tune into glee back in june.
also, it's totally a television show chronicling my years in high school. seriously. i was a total music nerd and this is just spectacular.
every day needs to be wednesday!!
i watched it last week and love it!! seriously such a good show.
I absolutely love this show. The music makes me so happy and that Journey song like made the entire episode. Such a great show!
As much as I like Glee, I have to admit, I still can't wait for the remake of Fame too!
Mindy & Melissa - You MUST watch this show when/if you get the chance!
Rachel - agreed and agreed :)
Katelin - it's so good, right?!
Bayjb - EXACTLY! I'm just so happy while I watch this show...positively gleeful.
Cate - I'm looking forward to fame too! I love anything with some song&dance numbers!
I am totally addicted to this show. After they did "Poison" I was officially in love! And the Jazmine Sullivan number cracked me up so bad :-D
I also saw Spring Awakening with her in it and she was fantastic, though I didn't like the show too much. But Glee? LOVE.
Okay, so I know this post is way back in September, but I saw it on your list of topics and had to click. I am absolutely loving Glee this year! It's just such a feel good show and I get so happy everytime I watch it!
